Service providers interested in offering hosted Hyku repository services have begun meeting regularly to collaborate on development goals. Service providers working on the initiative include CoSectorData Curation ExpertsDuraSpaceNotch8Stanford University LibrariesTexas Digital Library, and Ubiquity Press.

Service provider representatives discussed how to work together to advance development goals without duplicating effort. Addressing current issues related to bulk import and updating Hyku to the latest release of Hyrax were identified as priorities. Some features of Hyrax 2.1 are expected to address some of the feature gaps within Hyku.

Service provider representatives also discussed how to best address the improvements identified in the HykuDirect Pilot Project Gap Assessment. The assessment outlines work that can be done by the community to support and invest in a competitive hosted repository service. Collaboration between potential service providers, the Samvera Community, DuraSpace communities, and interested institutions and consortiums will ensure that hosted and locally installed Hyku repositories are a cost-effective and attractive option for many organizations.

If you’re a service provider, institution, or consortium interested in Hyku and its mission of lowering the barrier of entry to open source digital repository services, please get in touch by emailing to discuss an investment of staff time or funds to the project. We look forward to working with you!
